Reasons Why I stopped Blogging Daily

If you have been following my blog then you would notice that I haven’t been at it for some time now. In fact I have had some people unsubscribe from my feed, which was a shame but nevertheless out of my hands – so to say.You see I registered this blog in February 2008 with after reading an ebook from an internet marketing mentor. He got me so charged up that I decided to give it all I had.

After a series of blog posts I started getting descent traffic and some good comments were being made on my posts. It was exciting. So I continued.

The more I continued blogging the more I realized that blogging for profits was a long-term business model. I realized that I needed to give it the blog some time before I could build up some authority and start making money off of it. Having been a faithful reader of Yaro Starak’s blog I started to understand the business model better – and it was not what I wanted at the time.

My major focus in 2008 was to build My Adsense Empire. Didn’t make enough money so I had to do everything myself i.e. do keyword mining, article research and writing, putting together the site (with proper SEO) and build links (article marketing, blog posting, and more). Plus I had a fulltime job – or offline business that required all my time.

So while I was getting carried away with blogging I started to see my Adsense earnings going down. I almost didn’t care because blogging was so exciting. However when a need for cash came along it woke me from the deep sleep.

I stopped blogging and got back to focusing on what made me more money – in the short-term. Here are some of my learnings from all this:

· Blogging for profits can be extremely profitable but you need to be patient and slowly build up authority in your niche.
· You need to have a well written out internet marketing strategy  in place and identify your priority areas before you find yourself doing everything.
· Test all possible models: do test all potential business models but do not neglect your key source of income.
· Make money with Adsense in the short-term and invest in blogging for the future.

Note: I love blogging about Internet marketing – in fact I will be getting back to it as soon as I grow my business to a pre-determined level. This will probably be in the last quarter of 2009

Yes, Internet Marketing is in and exciting but the overnight success that is promised is a myth. It is along term business especially in some parts of the world where the internet is still in the infant stage. As for adsense I haven’t made any money so far. Some one must convince me it does work.

  3. mavicks says:

    Hey George,

I am not sure where to start to try and convince you that Adsense works BIG TIME!

I am not one to show figures and graphs because you could easily pass that off an a “photoshopped” image so i never bother. But think about this for a sec.

    > Google’s revenue is $7+ Billion
    > 99% of Google’s revenue is derived from its advertising programs
    >Google said that it paid out $1.06 billion dollars to its Adsense partners. Read their quarterly report.
    > This is a company that is listed on NASDAQ.si it can’t lie.

Hope this is starting to give you an idea that Adsense works. You probably just need to follow the right internet marketing strategies. Give me a shout for some help to get you started.

Yep, it’s bad that so many people make blogging sound like you’re going to make money over night… of course, this could happen if you find an amazing niche that everyone suddenly starts searching about, and your site is the only good site around that is related to it… but other than that, it’s very long and hard work that you have to put into blogging to get some decent results out of it!

Well I hope that you do carry on blogging, and don’t totally give up on it! It’s my first time here, and would be nice to see some more excellent posts!

    Cheers.

  6. Hello,

Thanks for posting this. I’m happy to have the students read your views in particular.

I’m often caught in the situation where our focus on blogging in classes, I fear, causes students to see it as something I wholeheartedly embrace for every situation. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of something new. Blogging is almost always very new for the students.

Your experience will help them achieve that balance. All things in perspective and all things in their place, as the saying goes. Sometimes it can work and other times it can be a detriment.

    Thanks.

But why you are concentrating only on adsense there are lots more than adsense like affiliate marketing as well.

You should try that as well and I am sure you will be able to make more than adsense at there.

But however you should fixed a day when you should post here so that we will come at that time and will give you honest review as well.

    Looking forward for more.

  8. Its cheating google paid only 1/7 of the earning for adsense partners.

  9. Care to share with us why do you love adsense that much except of the good money earned? It seems to be a tough job to me.

  10. Blogging daily can be excessive and time consuming. If time, ideas, money and resources are available then excellent. I try to assign a ‘blogging mindset’ and schedule a couple of blog entries throughout the week on a Sunday, that way I only need to sit down once a week and focus on my main income for the rest of the week

  12. Adsense is great, but there are tons of other types of affiliate marketing programs you can look into. I agree that making money blogging is a long term strategy, but the quality and quantity of your blog posts should stay relatively consistent.

  13. SEO Services says:

I think the visitors who like your blogs always waits for your next blog to come in the picture…

I think one needs to scheduled a time for writing another blog…i.e. it should be like two days or three days in the week…

  14. Online business need commitment, to build link, to build content and build authority. It can’t be done for only 1 year. Sometimes to build enough money from online business needs 2 or more years.
