How To Find Internet Marketing Mentors You Can Trust
Do not trust search engines to help you find trustworthy mentors; Do not trust sites that do not place a name to what they are selling. I even prefer one with the picture of the person. Below I provide interesting information on how I found Internet marketing mentors who have helped my online business grow in leaps and bounds.It is often said in the Internet marketing circles that only 5% of Internet marketing experts enjoy 80% of the Internet marketing income. This means about 95% are simply struggling to make ends meet because they are sharing the 20% of the “cake”. Having been in this industry for two years now, I believe this is true.
Having said that, there are literally thousands of Internet marketing (IM) experts who claim to be IM gurus – mentors or what ever you choose to call them. These will often get you on their mailing lists and through offering a free product and then flood you with sales pitches every day. In fact I once subscribed to one who sent me sales offers every hour,
“Hey Mfundo, this just came in, you might want to check it out”
Every hour I received that message. Imagine that!
At least I wasn’t scammed and so far so good. I am doing everything I can to minimize the risk and today I want to help you minimize it too my finding Internet marketing mentors you can trust. You do not want to find yourself enrolled in a program that will get you BEHIND BARS now do you? Or scammed and made to believe Internet marketing success is a myth.
By trust I mean those IM mentors who will get you on their list and instead of selling you stuff every day, help you to grow with you Internet Marketing business by providing you with effective internet marketing strategies. I am planning to do a review, may be even develop an ebook based on all the mentors that have made a positive impact in my online business.
Now how to find your own Internet marketing mentors
There are so many ways but what has worked for me is using referrals. I simply identified one person I absolutely knew I could trust. Got into his list and then he started sending me stuff mostly free. He did sell me some things at times but did not buy because I did not have a credit card back them. One day he made a recommendation to me to get into someone else’s list and because I trusted this first guy I signed up to the next list.
It turned out that guy was great too and this time had a credit card and so I bought his products (so far I have spent about $200) buying his products and hundreds more on other people’s products he recommended to me. I have no problem telling you about him. His name is Jonathan Leger . He is a great guy and his blog posts and products (which I always buy) have taken my business to greater heights.
Then one day Jonathan Leger recommended an ebook by another Internet marketer. He gave his honest and complete review about the book (the good and the bad) but said it’s worth checking out. Now because he is an Internet marketing mentor I trusted, I bought the ebook from this other guy. Till today (at the writing of this post) I am still in his list. His name is Josh Spaulding. I used his ebook about blogging to set up this very blog.
Out of so many thousands of mentors, I only have these two as my core-ones. They do not know me because they have such huge lists but nevertheless their input in my life has been phenomenal.
Others I am subscribed to include, Sean Mize (introduced me to mailing lists and product creation). All in all I have less than 10 people I can honestly say make a valuable input into my business. Whether they make me buy their staff or give it away free, they are worth my name in their list period! Oh! How can I forget my “blog traffic King” from Australia, Yaro Starak – this guy is so humble and nice you can feel it from his posts. I’m using his tactics to grow this blog from strength to strength.
The more you spend time you will come to realize that these guys are not THEE gurus in this industry. There are other BIG BIG shots but I am not in their lists because they have no personal relevance to me. To them I’m just a statistic and do not really care about growth of my business. They have huge lists so getting a conversion of 1% to them still makes them hundreds of thousands.
One more: Although he hasn’t exactly earned mentor “status” to me yet (since I’m new to his list) is Joel Comm. This guy is so real you know his every move and even send you videos about his vacations. I bought his Adsense Secrets ebook, the 2008 version. If you want to know anything about Adsense, try him.

I agree, its hard to find the right mentor. My first so called mentor literally ran my pockets empty. So it was very hard to trust anyone, but once you find that right one, you know you are golden.

You know what i feel….If you work with a trial n error method, you might not need a mentor…..Although it might take some more time, but it will help you in saving the energy and money wasted in knowing from a mentor..On top, you will know any topic way better…

I think there is a time when a mentor loses value – especially when he or she does not evolve as you evolve and become experienced. I have unsubscribed from some of the mentors after realizing that they were not helping me out any more but simply reaping me off and abusing the trust I had in them.

I do believe in trial and error – I have used it a lot and have gained considerable experience out of it – it all depends on an individual really – For those who believe in finding mentors I recommend taking the advise in this post and for those who want to do it by trial and error – well, forge right on – it works too but like you said Abhinav it can take some time.

There are lot of mentors in Internet Marketing and honestly we can only few personality that we could be trusted. Most Internet Marketing mentors have hidden agenda about some bloggers or viewers that having problem with their sites.
