Don’t wait on Google to bring your traffic – get it yourself fast & free!
As much as search engines are good for traffic and the traffic that comes get me the clicks, it can take a long while before the numbers grow. There are just too many rules and it takes a long time to comply e.g. the Google sandbox doesn’t want you to get too many links too fast otherwise you stay in the sand for a while. Now what can you do?
This is a little test I tried out with a niche site of mine that wasn’t performing, the earnings per click were the highest of all my sites but the problem is I would go for days without any clicks. So after about 5 months of having the site up and still no traffic – by the way I had selected a very high competitive keyword because I simply loved the niche (it’s what I do for a living offline, in the marketing research field).
I used Article marketing. This is the oldest trick in the book but it still works. I wrote 5 articles and submitted them to Ezinearticles.com and within 5 days I started noticing an influx of traffic to my site. The article directory was sending me some visitors in a way I had never seen before. I got motivated and started writing more such that each day at least one of my articles appeared in the “recent article list” and also on their high traffic page.
It was not just about writing articles but it was about the new method I used in writing and the frequency of posting those articles. I mean, I had written dozens of articles before but this time I decided to change my style a bit just to see what would happen.
So to maximize on this Internet marketing strategy, you just need to grow your traffic on your own.
Here is what you can do write articles that will attract traffic:
1. Post only on ezinearticles.com or at least two more directories like goartcles.com, article alley, searchwarp.com or content4reprint. Make your pick but do not leave out ezinearticles.com.
2. Make your article to be at least 350 words and not more. Note that some of the above mentioned directories may want you to write more, which will take time off your hand so I recommend sticking with Ezinearticles.com for a while.
3. Focus on one point on the article, which should be enough to get the person interested to going to your site to learn more. Find a way to say that I point but still make the article to be 350 words. Practice makes perfect.
4. Draw the reader towards the end of the article by promising more as you write e.g. say things like, “below I will show you this”, “as you continue reading you will notice that”, “towards the end I will tell you about” and more other hooker phrases.
5. Your bio: your bio should be seen to be part of your article. Ezinearticles.com blends it so well, readers don’t notice when they get to it. You can take advantage of this by throwing one paragraph in there and then add your links.
6. Submit at least 1 article everyday: now you should see why I discourage submitting to too many directories.
7. Be simple in your writing: write like you are talking and do not be too serious and formal. Engage the person in a conversation and not a lecture.
8. Try to use headings that promise tips, methods etc. use numbers as much as you can e.g. 5 things to that, 3 best ways to do that.
Recently I came across Joshua’s Spaulding’s niche sites ebook on this. I recommend you check it out. Note: I will not get any commission for recommending it. He is a really helpful guy and being in his list won’t hurt you at all. In fact, he is the reason I was able to set up this very blog.
